About Our Work

Marin Healthy Youth Partnerships works to reduce underage substance use including tobacco, cannabis, alcohol and other drugs.

We use data, education and environmental strategies to help youth, parents and community members alter the perceptions that drive use.

We have a number of community partners that assist in our initiatives that include policy work, education, peer engagement and more.

Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved.

What we do

We work collaboratively to reshape community norms to reduce youth substance use.

How we do it

We partner with young people, families, schools and other community organizations to promote a thriving environment.

Why we do it

The communities we serve in Marin County have significantly higher rates of underage alcohol, cannabis and other drug use when compared to the rest of California and across the country. We believe that can change – and that our young people deserve to grow up in an environment that reduces the risks and harms associated with underage substance use.

What our members say:

I want to help the kids who may fall under the radar.

I do this work because early use can lead to addiction and it doesn’t go away. It’s something they will have to live with for the rest of their life.

I am hopeful that with the information we have today – that we did not have 20 years ago – we can make different choices. And young people today can avoid the long term harms that result from early substance use and abuse.

I’m involved in this work as a way to give back to the community. As a person in long term recovery, I missed out on a lot of years and want to do my part to help prevent other teens from going down a similar path.
